Why Tennis Is A Good Sport For Children And Adults

By Stephen Johnson

Participating in physical games and other athletic endeavors have proven to contain so many benefits. Some may be specific to what is being played. For parents, these details tend to be important. Tennis, in this case, is a really good choice to let your child engage in at an early age. The sport has been around for centuries for a good reason.

A particularly old game is tennis. The fun thing is how this has been around since the 1800s and compared to other sports played during that era, it is still practiced up to now. While European in nature, tennis is widely played in Indiana. Indianapolis tennis facilities are very well maintained and are a great place to train and practice. These courts also hold competitions that even non athletes love to watch.

It would be best to start playing young when it comes to any hobby. This assures that discipline when it comes to practice and training is ingrained at an early age. There are specific benefits that you can get from playing this back and forth game between two players. You may like to consider these benefits when it comes comparing this to badminton.

Tennis seems to be a heavier version of badminton. You can bet that playing this would give your strong arms and legs with all the running and carrying a relatively heavy racquet. Many tennis players have really well toned arms and legs and incredible strength. This make you a very acrobatic person without missing out on your over all strength.

Any athletic participation is bound to have you work as a team. In this case, it would be a partnership since this only goes up to doubles. The teamwork that you acquire can help teach a child or anyone collaboration and all necessary social skills to be a bearable human being to other people around you. Not only does this benefit social skills but also your intelligence.

For parent concerned with the safety of children with sports, a good advantage is how this is essentially non contact. So there are no punches, kicks, elbowing and fatal injuries are more unlikely to happen. Every sport has its fair share of accidents. In this case it would only be tripping on shoelaces or getting hit by the ball. But that should not create as much damage as being punched in the gut.

Although this is not to say that there are no accidents when it comes to tennis. There could be casualties like getting hit by the ball in particularly sensitive areas or tripping on your shoelace, but these can be avoided better than when someone throws a punch at your or elbows your face.

Hand eye coordination, strategy and critical thinking are some of the more mental skills that you can develop when playing this sport. Although one can argue that this can also be acquired by playing video games, it makes a huge difference when your whole body. This helps you get in great physical shape especially when you tend to not like going to the gym.

Like anything that requires discipline, tennis can help your child be more organized and appreciate the value of routine. You may not aim for them to become professional athletes but being properly in tuned with both body and mind has always proven its benefits. Getting used to discipline is necessary for success, regardless who and how old you are.
